Nellie Technologies

As part of the first round of the Mid Wales Challenge-Led Launchpad Innovation Strategy worked with Nellie Technologies to support them in the development of a carbon capture product that uses biotechnology to remove CO2 from the air.

Carbon capture was identified in the 2021 UK Government’s Net Zero Strategy as being crucial to achieving Net Zero by 2050. The Welsh Government identified the role of Carbon Capture to enable the decarbonisation of a wide range of economic sectors and contribute to the wellbeing of future generations.

Innovation Strategy were able to secure Nellie Technologies £30,000 in funding as part of the Mid Wales Challenge-Led Launchpad to support their research and development into carbon capture technologies. As part of the project Innovation Strategy provided one-to-one mentoring, thematic workshops, and support with strategy to encourage the growth and development of Nellie Technologies.

Nellie Technologies added two new members to their team and developed a prototype of their carbon capture product, Little Nellie, within three months. Little Nellie can be used for direct air or point source carbon capture and uses an organic bioreactor with a novel combination of additives.

Innovation Strategy supported them through this journey and helped the team at Nellie Technologies to develop their business skills, enabling them to continue to grow and innovate.
