Innovation Strategy and AberInnovation have launched the second series of the Mid Wales Challenge-Led Launchpad following on from the success of the first series cohort.

The Mid Wales Challenge-Led Launchpad is 100% funded by UK Shared Prosperity Funding and aims to develop novel solutions of public sector and societal issues through supporting research and innovation in Mid Wales. Projects are fully funded to carry out research and development into their innovative solution and receive business support.

Round 2 focuses on Rural Health and Wellbeing with businesses addressing one or more of the three sub-themes:

  1. Ageing well and promoting wellness.

  2. Farming and primary production to promote yields.

  3. Protecting our waterways and coastal areas.

The programme is closely aligned to policy objectives in mid-Wales and addresses issues important to Ceredigion. The Ceredigion Local Well-Being Plan identifies the importance of supporting local skills development, maintaining a healthy environment for people to enjoy and improving physical and mental health. The project also supports the Hywel Dda University Health Board’s strategy for A Healthier Mid and West Wales whilst creating sustainable growth in the region

12 businesses are participating in this round which is also supporting 12 individuals to develop new skills and progress in their careers through the programmes Skill Builder element of the programme. The projects underway vary from community medicine initiatives to developing novel food and drink products and automated farming systems.
